Because of the dastardly recession, the publishers of my first beauty book got scared and ran away with their twitching tails between their legs just before they were able to get it into print, which upset me for about 3 hours, until I realised that without a big corporate contract I’d be free to write what I wanted, how I wanted and for whomever I wanted.
So, the years of research will now be ploughed into my new venture – the multi-platform title, GLASS. Where do I come in? As Beauty Editor of the rich & continually updated supporting website, my aim is to provide a window into all that is alternative, original, courageous and inspiring in the world of beauty. The site launched in January 2010, and can be explored here: www.theglassmagazine.com
I am also a blogger – and founded Miss Malcontent Seeks Truth in Beauty all the way back in 2007 with one aim – to be utterly honest about the very best, and worst, beauty products on the market. Recently I’ve also started another blog: we make up as we go along which is about the ins and outs of the beauty editor’s day-to-day, from press trips and launches to peeks into colleagues’ make-up bags.
I am available for comment on any issues regarding beauty, health, nutrition, style and trends. Please contact my agent, Mary Bekhait at Limelight Management., if you would like to discuss relevant opportunities.
I have also recorded a series of podcasts in conjunction with British Airways and Times Online, which zoom in on the world’s style capitals – Milan, Paris, Sydney, Tokyo and New York. Providing insider information on where to go, stay, dine and party, the podcasts are now available online and can be found at www.baa.com/travel. They also feature advice from a whole host of other experts, including Plum Sykes and Wayne Hemingway. Since going live the podcasts have received over 1.5 million hits.
